Taking Time to Rest
As we all are getting into the thick of the holiday season, we’re going to take some time to rest from our blogging for the next month. We’ll be back, God willing, on January 10, 2026. Though it’s good to be writing consistently, I know I usually struggle this time of year, so I’m being proactive and choosing to take this time to rest. We trust that by doing so, we’ll also have space to refresh with the Lord and return in the new year ready to go again!
As I consider how the first coming of Christ is the culmination of many Old Testament promises, I hope to take the next few weeks to think about the many promises that we still hold on to as we also look forward to the second coming of Christ, as a part of celebrating this Christmas season.
Another thing I plan to meditate on is the name “Emmanuel.” This past Sunday, our pastor pointed out that Jesus is introduced in the gospel of Matthew as “God with us” and that Jesus Himself closes that same book with the promise that “He will be with us always” (see Matt. 1:3 and 28:20). What a great comfort that is! As I feel the weariness of our ongoing care for our disabled daughter on top of what we’re trying to establish with OakHaven, this is a message I need to hear today.
We hope that you also will be able to find time and space to be with the Lord this Christmas season. We hope you’ll join us in thinking of the many ways He has walked with us in our own lives this past year, and to commit once again to trusting Him for what lies ahead.
May the Lord bless you this Christmas and in 2026.
Joyfully partnering with you in Christ,
Dan and Vera Christian
